कांच का घर
The Glasshouse
cedar nest, morning light

Morning at the stay — deodars over the glass roof. Steffie and I claimed the valley view before breakfast.
2
sunlight through a timber sky
3
शांगढ़
Shangarh Meadows
28 march — the whole crew

The whole Nomads of India crew at Shangarh. Fourteen of us, one meadow, zero plans.
4
one meadow, all of us
5
छिपा हुआ झरना
The Hidden Waterfall
forest trail, snowmelt pool

The waterfall hike. We took turns on the boulder for photos — this round was mine and Steffie's.
6
the pool below the falls
7
मीनार मंदिर
The Tower Temples
kath-kuni, older than maps

Twin towers of stacked stone and deodar. The whole group went quiet here — even the chatter stopped.
8
stone below, carved wood above
9
देवदार की कारीगरी
Carved in Deodar
brackets, arches, afternoon sun

Every bracket hand-carved, no nails anywhere. We stood underneath till our necks ached.
10
an hour of looking straight up
11
घाटी के पार
Across the Valley
29 march — raila side, terraced fields

Wandering around Raila — terraced fields dropping away, ranges fading into the mist. The kind of quiet you can hear.
12
terraces all the way down
13
शाम का मैदान
The Meadow at Dusk
woodsmoke in the deodars

Evening settling over the meadow — woodsmoke drifting, bonfire plans forming, conversations slowing down.
14
two empty shelters, one long evening
15
झरने के नीचे
Under the Falls
straight off the snow

Standing under the big falls. The spray reached us before the sound did.
16
small person, tall water
17
पहाड़ों का बसेरा
Our Base in the Hills
balconies, laundry lines, snow peaks

Last morning at our base — balconies stacked over the valley, mountains for neighbours.
18
goodbye from the balcony floor
19
वापसी
till the next valley
Overnight bus back through Delhi, then home to Mumbai — tired, full of mountains.
